SPECTRUM's Transgender Services
SPECTRUM’s Transgender Services Committee is responsible for ensuring that needed services and programs for transgender individuals are in place in Waterloo Region and functioning well. See below for information on our Transgender Peer Support Group, other transgender spaces in KW, and how to reach us!
Transgender Support Groups

This program is currently on hold. If you’re interested in participating in the program when it re-launches, or in helping to facilitate, please get in touch.
Cambridge Transgender Peer Support Group
Funded by a grant from the Cambridge and North Dumfries Community Foundation, the biweekly Cambridge Transgender Peer Support Group is an informal, discussion based, drop-in program. This group is a space for adults that identify within the trans/gender variant umbrella.
Note, these meetings are currently happening virtually. Please register to attend.
TransMasculine Peer Support
The TransMasculine Peer Support Group is an informal, discussion based, drop-in program. This group is a space for anyone that identifies as TransMasculine within the trans/gender variant umbrella.
Virtual Program Access
These support programs are being run virtually during COVID. Contact us for access information.
Additional Resources and Services
SPECTRUM offers a number of resources and services for transgender people besides support groups, including:
TRANSNAV GPS DIRECTORY
TransNAV GPS, an online tool to help trans people locate service providers and resources in Waterloo Region and beyond.
Gender-Neutral Washroom Map
Many public washrooms are labelled by gender. People who do not clearly conform to the gender with which they identify can encounter hostility when they use the washroom of their choice. This is why SPECTRUM has conducted a survey to create a map of gender-neutral washrooms in Waterloo Region.
SPECTRUM's Legal Aid Clinic
SPECTRUM has partnered with WRCLS to provide this Legal Aid Clinic, so that members of the local rainbow community can have their needs for legal services met in a way that is comfortable and affirming.
In addition to support programs, SPECTRUM also runs social programs for members of the local rainbow community to connect and socialize in a space where they can be their authentic selves.
Or contact us for other support
Our Transgender Services Committee is able to answer any questions by email that you might have about transgender-related resources in the region. If you have a transgender-related question, please contact us.
